Day 1: Sunday, March 11
We’ll meet at MCI airport to start our escorted trip and we fly together to Iceland!
Day 2: Monday, March 12 (B)
Our private coach and our professional, local guide will be waiting for us at the airport when we land in Iceland. Savor a delicious breakfast until it is time for us to go to the Blue Lagoon.
The Lagoon is a unique wonder of nature; a lagoon with pleasantly warm mineral-rich geothermal water in the middle of a black lava field. The high natural levels of silica and minerals give the Lagoon its rich blue color. The facilities include modern changing rooms and showers, an indoor geothermal pool, a winter garden, restaurants and other services. A visit to the Blue Lagoon is both invigorating and exciting whether one bathes there surrounded by snow in the middle of the winter or in the long summer daylight. Afterwards, we’ll depart for our hotel in Reykjavík. Rest of the day and evening at your leisure. Overnight in Reykjavík.

Day 3: Tuesday, March 13 (B)
Start the day by visiting the recently opened and fascinating Northern Lights Centre in Reykjavik for an exciting and informative presentation on the Northern Lights.
Onwards to Thingvellir National Park (UNESCO World Heritage site) where the world's oldest parliament met for centuries on the shores of Iceland's largest lake. Drive to Laugarvatn Fontana where we experience a geothermal bakery first-hand and dig up bread that has been cooked underground. Sample the delicious bread, served hot from the ground and slathered with fresh Icelandic butter.
Continue through farmland areas to the geothermal fields of Geysir with bubbling mud pools and the high-spouting Strokkur hot spring. Last but not least, visit the dramatic two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall, a spectacular sight in winter when frozen mid-cascade. Stop at Skalholt, Iceland’s capital during the Middle-Ages and now a culture center with a beautiful church.
Return to your hotel in Reykjavík. Head towards the village of Hveragerdi, which is one of the few sites in the world located directly in the middle of a geothermal area. Hveragerdi is often called "The Flower Village" because of its many greenhouses heated by hot water from nearby springs. Follow along the coastline with its breathtaking waves and through a deserted community that once was a flourishing center for the region. Dinner on own and overnight in Reykjavík.
Day 4: Wednesday, March 14 (B,D)
Heading out of Reykjavik, we drive through Borgarfjordur fjord towards Víðgelmir lava cave. Once at the cave, we start an adventurous and guided walk down the great, colorful and beautiful lava cave. Learn about its history and geological uniqueness which dates all the way back to the Viking age. Vidgelmir is Iceland‘s largest natural lavacave, located in West Iceland. Just shy of 1600m/5250ft, the cave features amazing colors and lava formations that lurk in the depths of the earth. With the aid of the new access walkway, and state of the art feature lighting system, it‘s an easy walk that all generations can enjoy.
After the cave we make a stop at the magnificent Hraunfossar lava waterfalls and Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring. Take a bath in Krauma, a natural bath resort at Deildartunguhver. Krauma offers five relaxing natural geothermal baths, a cold tub to get your blood circulation going, two calming saunas and a relaxation room where you can rest by the fireplace while listening to soothing music. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Reykholt.
Day 5: Thursday, March 15 (B,D)
Drive through the beautiful countryside towards North Iceland. This will be an amazing journey through an area of extreme contrasts, birdlife, flora, geothermalactivity, geology and traditional history. The Lake Mývatn area is by many considered the most beautiful and at the same time the most catastrophic place in Iceland.
We begin our day by stopping at Goðafoss Waterfall on our way to Lake Mývatn. Goðafoss is a picturesque waterfall in Skjálfandafljót River. The first stop by Lake Mývatn is at the pseudo-craters of Skútustaðagígar. From there we visit all the highlights of the area, such as Hverir Mud Pools, Grjótagjá Rift, Dimmuborgir Lava Fields and many more. Dinner and overnight stay in Lake Mývatn area.
Day 6: Friday, March 16 (B)
After breakfast, we will head to the capital of the north, Akureyri. Akureyri boasts some of the finest timber buildings in the country, beautifully restored to their original glory. The northerly town (located 60 miles away from the arctic circle) takes great pride in its reputation as a center of education, culture, and services in Eyjafjordur Fjord.
Afternoon flight to Reykjavík (only 35 min flight). Pick up at Reykjavík airport and transfer to our hotel. Spend the night at leisure. Overnight in Reykjavík.
Day 7: Saturday, March 17
We shall depart Iceland to arrive back home tonight, where our adventure ends at the airport!
